This open jam session post is now maintained on folkjam.org. You can find up to date information on this jam here.

Every Sunday night around 8pm Doc Fuller hosts an open jam / open mic night at WJ McBrides [google local], just south of 119th Street and west of Blue Valley Parkway, Overland Park, Kansas. For me this is just one more reason to enjoy McBrides, which is the only local watering hole I know of that serves Strongbow Cider. Doc Fuller is flat out amazing on the Guitar. The range of groups who get up on the stage after his opener run from "can I start that again?" grade to "this song is from our latest CD" caliber. Don't be shy.
As always, I suggest you call to confirm before you go. Visit their web site for contact information.

The Open Mic has been moved
The Open Mic has been moved to WJ McBrides South of 119th and West of Blue Valley Parkway, Just south of Lucas Liquiors...North from Target.... Still hosted by Doc and everything is 1/2 price all evening....
Thanks for the update
Thanks for letting me know this had moved. I've updated the entry.
Doc's Sunday Night Jam
Adam discovered this place awhile back and began attending on a regular basis to play and listen to other musicians. Wes, Jes, and I have also made our way there for the culture (and beer). The musicians are mostly regular attendees with a few stragglers and friends making their way in to chill for an evening. It's a small, not-so-trendy bar that doesn't tend to attract large or young crowds. If you're into hot wings, this is the place to be. Be warned; they can make your eyes water. You'll want to be sure to show up in the first half of mic night to ensure you can get food.
DOC FULLER
Nobody. Absolutly nobody plays the guitar like Doc Fuller. Doc puts on a great show and then starts the "open mic." I haven't been able to make it for a while because of my work schedule, but that will soon be changing. This is one "open mic" you want to be at. It's a great feeling to be playing a song (especially one of your own) and have Doc step in and add some lead riffs and nuances. He's the best. Doc is also a very gracious host to all the "pickers" who come out to play. And even if you don't play, it's worth the trip just to see Doc Fuller and his magic guitar.
